Scottish Roads Partnership – Good Neighbour Fund Donation – October 2023
Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP) via their ‘Good Neighbour Fund’ donated £750 to Glenboig Community Garden, Glenboig, Coatbridge after their Project Manager George McCutcheon reached out for help with costs of the purchase of paving slabs to continue improving the walkways, seated areas and access routes in their community garden. The garden has been developed over the last 18 months and the funding provided by SRP will help the caretaker and volunteers from the community install more paving to help connect various short lengths of tarmacadam footpaths in the garden. This will improve access to the raised flower beds, seating areas, planters, polytunnels, activity sheds, children’s hut and play area. By replacing the dilapidated routes through the garden, it helps prevents falls and slippage underfoot by visitors and improves access to the area for local persons less mobile. The garden nurtures various plants and vegetables, with the flowers then showcased throughout the village in the summer months to create a better ambiance for the local residents. Some of the planted pots are for sale to the general public, with the funds raised helping out this local charity.
Normally a maximum grant of £500 each is available from the SRP ‘Good Neighbour’ fund. Application forms for the funding can be requested by contacting their admin manager Louise Berkley at info@scotroadspartnership.co.uk or telephone 0800 042 0188.
