SRP donate to Bothwell Futures for Community Hub at Library site in December 2022

With the help and assistance of the local communities and businesses in Bothwell, Uddingston and the surrounding areas, Bothwell Futures, a charity organisation in Bothwell, are planning to turn the underused Bothwell Library building, which was in a state of disrepair into a Community Hub for all in 2023.

Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP), as part of their ongoing ‘Good Neighbour Fund’, helped the charity organisation by donating £500 towards the redevelopment opportunity. On Tuesday 20 December 2022 Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP) Operations Manager Graham Drummond (pictured on left) visited the category ‘C’ listed building which is undergoing refurbishment and met Kevin Moore (pictured on right), one of the trustees and chairman of the charity. He provided a guided tour of the property, pointing out completed renovations so far including a new roof, various windows and a central heating system. The various rooms within have already been identified and are being prepared to house a variety of activities including a small library, a social space which will have an informal cafe, a technology hub, and areas for use by community groups e.g. a yoga class. Two large rooms upstairs are being prepared for long-term lease to local businesses and a health & wellbeing group, which will provide vital income for the buildings long term operation and maintenance.
