Conservation Group Assistance - The Historic Douglas Support Estate

25 April 2025

Scottish Roads Partnership provide 9 Volunteers to Cut Grass Meadows for Viewpark Conservation Group.

On 25th April 2025, for a fifth year in a row, SRP’s contractor Amey provided eight members of
staff/operatives for a community day at Viewpark Conservation Group, Mid
Shawhead Farm & Woodland Estate, adjacent to the A8 westbound at Coatbridge (Registered
Charity & Conservation Group). The Amey Team spent their Social Impact Day helping the conservation group carry out cutting the long grass in their fields at the Historic Douglas Support Estate.

This preparation work was appreciated by the charity group and will allow them to set up their summer picnic areas, giving the land a fresh and clean look for regular visitors/walkers that use the outdoors during the spring and summer months.

Amey was kindly assisted by one of their contractors ‘Complete Weed Control’, who provided one
staff member with a 10 ton tractor to cut a larger field for the project.

SRP’s contractor Amey provided the manpower and specialist equipment needed to carry out this remedial work quickly, efficiently and free of charge, using two large grass cutting machines, petrol driven strimmers and two new robomowers (remote control grass cutting machines). Normally this work would cost several thousand pounds if sub-contracted out.

Ends.
