Community Tree Planting Project – Raith SUDS Ponds – September 2025

12 September 2025

September 2025 - Scottish Roads Partnership & Amey assist Community in Tending to Area of 1,000 new native trees & shrubs.

BOTHWELL  & UDDINGSTON GREEN CANOPY INITIATIVE

On Friday 12 September 2025, nine members of staff from Amey’s Environment and Quality Team based out of the Polmadie Office, used their social impact day to re-visit an area of over one thousand tree saplings planted on Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP) land back in late 2023. SRP had provided the land to the Bothwell Green Canopy Initiative. The area of tree saplings, located between Laighlands Road Bothwell and the M74 Raith Junction, had recently been damaged by deer and needed some remedial work.

The Amey Team was responding to a call for assistance by members and friends of the Grow Uddingston & Bothwell Horticultural Society as part of the Bothwell Green Canopy Initiative. A subset of the Queen’s Green Canopy from Bothwell.

The Amey volunteer’s maintenance duties included the removal of tree shelters, taking off dead leaves and removing weeds and any dead trees for future replanting.

Ends.
