🐾💙 Scottie Dog Duty for the M8 DBFO & NMC SW Teams! 💙🐾16 August 2026
While most of us were enjoying our Sunday evening on 16th August 2026, five members of our Operations teams were out supporting Maggie’s Cancer Care Drop-In Units (Glasgow & Airdrie Centres) and helping five very special passengers make their way to their temporary new home.
Many of you may have spotted the colourful Scottie Dogs dotted around Glasgow during 2026. Well, last night, it was time for five of them to be collected from Glasgow Central Station, Buchanan Galleries, Braehead and Silverburn shopping centres, ahead of the Maggie’s Charity Auction on the 10th of September.
A lot of preparation went into making sure everything ran smoothly, with the M8 DBFO Supervisor Gary McCool overseeing the operation and carrying out site visits beforehand to plan the collections.
Highways Maintenance Operatives Allen Gilchrest, Chris Watson, Colom Nicholas and Stephen Brown then took on the important task of carefully collecting and transporting the Scotties. 🚛🐾
It was a real team effort and a great example of colleagues from across both the M8 DBFO & NMC SW contracts giving up their own precious time to support a fantastic cause. 💙
A huge thank you to Gary, Allen, Chris, Colom and Stephen for giving up their Sunday night and making sure our five colourful, four legged passengers arrived safely!
We look after the trunk network every day, but every now and then, the local community calls and Scottie Dog transportation gets added to the Amey Transport Infrastructures ever growing job description! 🐾🚛
