22 April 2026
Amey Staff provide Information & Support
On Wednesday 22nd April 2026, Amey’s Recruiter Laura Curtis attended a Career’s Fair at the Glasgow College of Commerce, Cathedral Street, Glasgow. She set up in an upper hall, manning an Amey Stall (see photograph below), with several other businesses present. During the event she spoke to a mix of approximately 200 Additional Support Needs (ASN) students from the College and various Glasgow secondary schools. Laura spoke about the affinity trust to support neurodiversity and ASN within Amey.
In addition, three members of staff from Amey’s M8 Contract, Adam Brown (Civil Engineer), Connor Bill (Engineering Technician) and Martin Cochrane (Liaison Manager) also attended the Event with a Workshop consisting of a PowerPoint Presentation and ‘Bridge Building Exercise’ for the students. They highlighted the different types of careers at Amey and the paths in particular into Civil Engineering. They ran a ‘Bridge Building Exercise’ with various ASN college and secondary school students from the Glasgow area, using K’nex construction playsets. Adam Brown supported students to think about technical design using maths and science, with build & 120 year maintain costs a major consideration.
The event was run by Developing the Young Workforce, part of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and is ‘Scotland’s Youth Employment Strategy’ across Scotland, in collaboration of course with Glasgow College of Commerce.
Ends.
