August 2025 - Social Impact Day – Internal Painting of Community & Scout Group Hall in High Blantyre
On Friday 22nd August 2025, eight operatives from Amey's M8DBFO Contract and one member of staff from Amey’s Transport Scotland Infrastructure Contract (TSIC), spent their social impact day (SID) painting the internal walls of the 3rd Blantyre Community Group Hall at Cemetery Road, High Blantyre. The Community Group Hall building was part of a community asset transfer from South Lanarkshire Council in 2024 and Group Scout Leader, Chris McCrory, along with others in the local community, helped acquire the premises, after their hall’s future was uncertain due to the closure of Livingstone Memorial church. The 3rd Blantyre community group, a registered charity, requested help from the Amey Team, who were delighted to step in and freshen up the inside of the community and scout Hall with several coats of paint, to improve the overall look of the venue and provide a clean and appealing environment for the Scouts and other community groups to utilise for various activities. Eight of the operatives based at Amey’s Polmadie Depot in Glasgow work on the M8DBFO Contract, whilst the ninth member of the team is an electrician from Amey’s TSIC contract based in Cumbernauld.
The Group Scout Leader Chris McCrory thanked the Amey Staff for their efforts and was delighted with the quality finish given to the venue. He stated:
‘On behalf of 3rd Blantyre Community Group, I’d like to thank you and your colleagues for a job well done at High Blantyre Hall. This has been a massive undertaking for our volunteers and we really appreciate Amey assisting us with this project. Your volunteer team were a pleasure to work with and completed the painting to a high standard! Thanks again and hopefully we can work together in the future.’
Ends.
