New Traffic Signal Cabinets Installed

Scottish Roads Partnership, the contractor for the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements project are pleased to announce that the traffic signal control cabinets on the A725 Shawhead Junction at North Road, destroyed after a road traffic collision on the 28 November 2019, were manufactured from new and installed on-site on 12 December 2019. This work was given top priority to be completed as a matter of urgency.

The traffic signal cabinet contractor was able to prioritise the manufacture of these new cabinets and reduce the normal process time from six weeks to a shorter period of only two weeks. This partnership working was in the knowledge that, in doing so, it would greatly assist the local community and the wider travelling public by alleviating the on-going traffic congestion to this area.

Please note that Shawhead Junction is automatically controlled by three sets of intelligent traffic signal systems, microprocessor optimised vehicle actuation (MOVA), that are synchronised with each other. SRP would like to remind you that the traffic signals computerised systems at North Road, may take several weeks to learn and adjust to the normal traffic flows for that area. Drivers are asked to be patient while this function of the MOVA system takes time to optimise.
