Works Postponed 02 October 2025 due to Storm Amy - M74 southbound Junction 5 Raith On slip Road from A725 Raith roundabout, for road resurfacing works - Full Weekend Closure for road resurfacing works

 

Road users are advised that the M74 southbound Junction 5 Raith on slip road from A725 Raith roundabout will be closed over a full weekend, commencing at 8pm on Friday 03 October 2025, for essential road surfacing works.

The M74 southbound Junction 5 Raith on slip road from A725 Raith roundabout will be closed over a full weekend from the following times and dates:

  • 8pm on Friday 03 October until 6am Monday 06 October 2025  - WORKS POSTPONED 02 OCTOBER 2025

A signed diversion routes will be in place via M74 northbound Junction 5 Raith on slip road, link road to M73 northbound (Stirling) at Junction 4 Maryville, M73 northbound Junction 2 Baillieston off slip road to Baillieston roundabout, take 4th exit to return to M73 southbound carriageway, M73 southbound link road to M74 southbound at Junction 1 Maryville and continue M74 southbound for Carlisle.

The closure is required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential carriageway resurface works are undertaken and have been scheduled over a full weekend during summer school holidays to minimise disruption to traffic as much as possible. The road will reopen at 6am on Monday morning.

The diversion route will add an estimated 8.5 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys on the M74 southbound carriageway at Junction 5 Raith.   

There will be no access for emergency vehicles during these closures due to the depth of excavations required for the road surfacing works.

Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland’s website prior to travelling to check their route.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland and the emergency services.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
