M73 northbound & southbound carriageways between Junction 1 Maryville & Junction 3 Mollinsburn - 2 Overnight Closures
Overnight closures of M73 northbound and southbound carriageways between Junction 1 Maryville & Junction 3 Mollinsburn
Road users are advised that the M73 northbound and southbound carriageways between Junction 1 Maryville and Junction 3 Mollinsburn will be closed for two consecutive overnights, commencing Tuesday 03 June 2025 for essential overhead gantry inspection works.
The works are planned to be undertaken in two phases as follows:
Phase 1 – The M73 southbound carriageway between Junction 3 Mollinsburn and Junction 2 Baillieston will be closed overnight for one night, from 8pm to 6am, on the following date:
- Tuesday 03 June 2025 (1 night)
As a result, the following slip roads and link road will also be closed:
- M80 southbound link road to M73 southbound at Junction 4 Mollinsburn
- M73 southbound Junction 3 Mollinsburn off slip road
- M73 southbound Junction 3 Mollinsburn on slip road
- M73 southbound Junction 2A Gartcosh off slip road
- M73 southbound Junction 2A Gartcosh on slip road
- M73 southbound Junction 2 Baillieston off slip road to Baillieston Roundabout
The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential overhead gantry inspection works are undertaken and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. The road will reopen at 6am the following morning.
Signed diversion routes will be in place as follows:
Diversion 1 - M80 southbound Junction 4 Mollinsburn Link Road & M73 southbound Junction 3 Mollinsburn on slip closures continue M80 southbound to Junction 1 Blochairn off slip road, take 2nd exit at roundabout for M8 eastbound Junction 13 Blochairn on slip road, continue M8 eastbound and follow permanent signage for M8 at Junction 8 Baillieston Interchange for M8 Edinburgh or M73 & M74 (South for Carlisle).
Diversion 2 – M80 southbound for access to Mollinsburn/ Moodiesburn/ Chryston follow diversion 1 above to M8 eastbound Junction 8 Baillieston off slip road for A89 Coatbridge and Bargeddie roundabout, take 3rd exit for A8 westbound Coatbridge Road for Swinton roundabout, take 1st exit for A8(M) Glasgow & Edinburgh Road for Baillieston roundabout, take 1st exit for M73 northbound Junction 2 Baillieston on slip road, Continue M73 northbound to Junction 2A Gartcosh off slip road or continue M73 northbound for Junction 3 and follow permanent signage for Mollinsburn/ Moodiesburn/ Chryston.
Diversion 3 – From Gartcosh for access to M73 southbound Carlisle & South via M73 northbound Junction 2A Gartcosh on slip road, M73 northbound Junction 3 Mollinsburn off slip to roundabout at A80 Cumbernauld Road, take 2nd exit for Mollins Road, M80 southbound Junction 4 Moodiesburn on slip road, continue M80 southbound to Junction 1 Blochairn off slip road, take 2nd exit at roundabout for M8 eastbound Junction 13 Blochairn on slip road, continue M8 eastbound and follow Diversion 1 above and permanent signage.
Phase 2 – The M73 northbound carriageway between Junction 1 Maryville and Junction 2 Baillieston will be closed overnight for one night, from 8pm to 6am, for the following date:
- Wednesday 04 June (1 night)
As a result, the following slip roads and link road will also be closed:
- M74 northbound link road to M73 northbound at Junction 4 Maryville
- M74 southbound link road to M73 northbound at Junction 4 Maryville
- M74 northbound off slip road for Daldowie
- M73 northbound on-slip road from Daldowie
- M73 northbound link road to M8 westbound at Junction 2 Baillieston
- M73 northbound Junction 2 Baillieston off slip road for Baillieston roundabout

Diversion 1 – M74 northbound Link Road to M73 northbound closure for Glasgow & Stirling – follow pre-signing prior to Hamilton to exit M74 northbound at Junction 5 Raith off slip, take 4th exit for A725 northbound Bellshill, continue A725 northbound for M8 eastbound at Junction 7A Shawhead on slip road, M8 eastbound Junction 7 Eurocentral off slip road, take 3rd exit at roundabout to cross M8 overbridge, take 4th exit for M8 westbound Junction 7 Eurocentral on slip road, continue M8 westbound for Glasgow or exit at Junction 8 Baillieston off slip road and follow permanent signage for M73 Stirling & The North.
Diversion 2 – M73 northbound Link Road to M8 westbound Glasgow at Junction 2 Baillieston, continue M74 northbound to Junction 2A Cambuslang, take 4th exit at roundabout to return to M74 southbound at Junction 2A Cambuslang, M74 southbound Junction 5 Raith off slip road, take 1st exit for A725 northbound to Bellshill and follow Diversion 1 above.
Diversion 3 – M74 southbound Link Road to M73 northbound at Junction 4 Maryville, continue M74 southbound to Junction 5 Raith off slip road, take 1st exit at roundabout for A725 northbound Bellshill and follow Diversion 1 above.
Diversion 4 – M74 northbound off slip road from Daldowie, continue M74 northbound to Junction 2A Cambuslang, take 4th exit at roundabout to return to M74 southbound Junction 2A Cambuslang, M74 southbound Junction 3A Daldowie off slip road.
Diversion 5 – M73 northbound on slip road from Daldowie, take A721 Glasgow Road (south) towards Uddingston, M74 southbound on slip road from Glasgow Road Uddingston, M74 southbound Junction 5 Raith off slip road, take 1st exit at roundabout for A725 northbound and Bellshill and follow Diversion 1 above.
The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland and the emergency services.
Access through the works will be maintained for Emergency Service vehicles. Please be aware of Mobile Elevated Platform vehicles (MEWP)
