M73 NB between J2 Baillieston & J3 Mollinsburn

Five overnight closures of M73 northbound carriageway between Junction 2 Baillieston & Junction 3 Mollinsburn - From 22 June 2026.

Road users are advised that the M73 northbound carriageway between Junction 2 Baillieston & Junction 3 Mollinsburn will be closed overnight for five consecutive nights, commencing Monday 22 June 2026, for essential bridge joint replacement works. The closures have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and are required to ensure road user and road worker safety.

The closures will take place overnight from 8pm to 6am the following day, as follows:

  • Monday 22 June to Friday 26 June (5 nights)

As a result, the following link road and slip roads will also be closed:

  • M73 northbound Junction 2 Baillieston on-slip road from Baillieston roundabout
  •  M73 northbound Junction 2A Gartcosh off-slip road
  • M73 northbound Junction 2A Gartcosh on-slip road
  • M73 northbound off-slip road to Mollinsburn/Moodiesburn (A80)
  • M73 northbound link road to M80 northbound at Junction 3 Mollinsburn

A signed diversion route for the M73 northbound closure will be in place via the M8 westbound at Baillieston Interchange, continuing on the M8 westbound to Junction 13 Provan/Parkhead, to re-join the M80 northbound at Junction 1 Blochairn on-slip. The diversion will continue on the M80 northbound with the option to leave the M80 northbound at Junction 4 Mollinsburn off slip road for Moodiesburn and Gartcosh. A local diversion route will also be in place for the Gartcosh area via M73 southbound to Junction 2A Gartcosh off slip road.  

The diversion route will add an estimated 12 miles and 14 minutes to affected journeys. 

Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling at these times to check their route.

Access for Emergency Service vehicles will be maintained.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council, Glasgow City Council, Amey South West Unit, Bear Scotland South East Unit and Police Scotland.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
