These temporary restrictions have been scheduled over one weekend during daytime hours to minimise disruption to road users as much as possible whilst road surface rejuvenation works are carried out. Daylight and dry weather are required to carry out this new process which involves spraying the two-lane road surface with a rejuvenation product followed by a short curing time. This process will extend the life of the existing road surface, help limit future road closures and reduce the carbon footprint.
Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling.
There will be no access through these works for emergency vehicles during the two daytime closures, due to road surface works across both lanes of the carriageway, with curing time required between 6am and 6pm each day.
The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
