The overnight closures have been phased to ensure only one carriageway, east or westbound, is closed at any given time. Wednesday night 22 May is a contingency night and may be used as part of either an eastbound or westbound carriageway closure as required on the night.

The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential high mast inspections and bridge inspection works are undertaken and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. The road will reopen at 6am each morning.

There will be no access through these works for emergency vehicles during the four overnight closures due large HGV maintenance vehicles including hi-ab vehicles with telescopic arms working across both lanes one and two of the carriageways.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
