M8 between Baillieston Interchange & J10 Easterhouse/Barlanark

Overnight Maintenance to Safety Barriers commencing on Monday 16th November 2020 for 4 weeks

Four weeks of overnight works on M8 westbound between Junction 8 Baillieston and Junction 10 Easterhouse/Barlanark  

Road users are advised that safety barrier works will commence on the M8 westbound between Junction 8 Baillieston and Junction 10 Easterhouse/Barlanark (Glasgow Fort), from Monday 16 November 2020, for approximately four weeks.

For the safety of road workers and road users, hard shoulder closures and a temporary 40 mph speed limit will be in place full time whilst these works are ongoing. In addition, overnight lane closures will be required Monday to Friday, from 8pm to 6am, with the overnight lane closures being removed at 6am each morning.

These essential safety barrier works will be carried out in two phases as follows:

Phase 1

M8 westbound Junction 8 Ballieston to Junction 9 Easterhouse/Springhill

The M8 westbound from Junction 8 Baillieston to Junction 9 Easterhouse/Springhill will be reduced to a single lane overnight, Monday to Friday only, from 8pm to 6am on the following dates:

  • Monday 16 to Friday 27 November 2020 

In addition, the following link and slip roads will be closed overnight:

  • M73 northbound link road to M8 westbound at Junction 2 Baillieston
  • M8 westbound on-slip road from Coatbridge Road (A89)

Signed diversions route will be in place as follows:

For M73 northbound link road closure via: M73 northbound Junction 2 Baillieston off-slip to Baillieston roundabout, 3rd exit for M8 eastbound Junction 8 Baillieston on-slip road. Continue M8 for M8 eastbound Junction 7 Eurocentral off-slip road, 3rd exit on roundabout and cross bridge, 4th exit on roundabout for M8 westbound Junction 7 Eurocentral on-slip road and continue M8 westbound for Glasgow.

For M8 westbound Junction 8 Baillieston on-slip closure via: A8 Coatbridge Road (west) to Swinton roundabout, 1st exit for A8(M) Glasgow & Edinburgh Road to Baillieston roundabout, 2nd exit for M8 eastbound Junction 8 Baillieston on-slip road. Continue M8 eastbound following diversion above.

Phase 2

M8 westbound Junction 9 Easterhouse/Springhill to Junction 10 Easterhouse/Barlanark (Glasgow Fort)

The M8 westbound from Junction 9 Easterhouse/Springhill to Junction 10 Easterhouse (Glasgow Fort) will be reduced to two lanes overnight, Monday to Friday, from 8pm to 6am from the following dates:

  • Monday 30 November to Friday 11 December 2020 

In addition, the following slip roads will be closed overnight:

  • M8 westbound Junction 9 Easterhouse/Springhill on-slip road
  • M8 westbound Junction 10 Easterhouse (Glasgow Fort) off-slip road

Signed diversions route will be in place as follows:

For the M8 westbound Junction 9 Easterhouse/Springhill on-slip road via: Springhill Parkway (east), Easterhouse Road (north), Westerhouse Road, M8 westbound Junction 10 Easterhouse/Barlanark on-slip road and continue M8 westbound.

For the M8 westbound Junction 10 (Glasgow Fort) via: M8 westbound to Junction 11 Stepps off-slip, Stepps Road (B765), M8 eastbound Junction 11 Stepps on-slip road for M8 eastbound J10 Easterhouse/Barlanark (Glasgow Fort) off-slip road, Auchinlea Way to Westerhouse Road.

These works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services and Glasgow City Council.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
