A8 EB & WB between Eurocentral and Newhouse Junctions

11 October 2021

Five overnight closures of A8 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Junction 7 Eurocentral and Junction 6 Newhouse

Road users are advised that the A8 eastbound and westbound carriageways will be closed at various locations for five nights, from 8pm to 6am, commencing Monday 11 October 2021, for essential maintenance.

As a result, the following sections of the A8 carriageway will be closed as the works progress:

  • A8 eastbound carriageway between Junction 7 Eurocentral and Junction 6a Chapelhall – Monday 11 October 2021 (and Tuesday 12 October 2021 if necessary)
  • A8 eastbound carriageway between Junction 6a Chapelhall and Junction 6 Newhouse – Tuesday 12 October 2021 (and Wednesday 13 October 2021 if necessary)
  • A8 westbound carriageway between Junction 6 Newhouse and Junction 6a Chapelhall – Wednesday 13 October 2021 (and Thursday 14 October 2021 if necessary)
  • A8 westbound carriageway between Junction 6a Chapelhall and Junction 7 Eurocentral – Thursday 14 October 2021 (and Friday 15 October 2021 if necessary)

The closures have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and have been phased to ensure only one carriageway, eastbound or westbound, is closed at any given time. A contingency night has been included should adverse weather affect the schedule.

Signed diversion routes will be in place and the road will reopen at 6am each morning.

This traffic management is required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential road marking and road stud works are undertaken.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route and have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
