A725 southbound between Bellziehill & Orbiston Junctions

Overnight Maintenance - Two overnight closures of A725 southbound between Bellziehill Junction and Orbiston Junction

Road users are advised that the A725 southbound between Bellziehill Junction and Orbiston Junction will be closed for two overnights, between 8pm to 6am, commencing on Monday 16th November 2020.

As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:

  • A725 southbound Bellziehill Junction on-slip road
  • A725 southbound Orbiston Junction off-slip road

These closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst we undertake essential bridge joint works and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. The road will re-open at 6am each morning.

Signed diversion routes will be in place as follows:

For A725 southbound and M74 motorway: via A725 southbound off-slip at Bellziehill Junction to Bellziehill roundabout, take 3rd exit for New Edinburgh Road (A721), continue A721 for Glasgow Road Uddingston (B7071), continue south on Main Street Uddingston (B7071) to Main Street Bothwell (B7071), Hamilton Road Bothwell (B7071), A7071 Bellshill Road Bothwell and continue to Raith roundabout for access to A725 southbound or M74 motorway or Strathclyde Country Park.

A725 southbound for Orbiston Junction off-slip closure: via A725 southbound off-slip at Bellziehill Junction, take 3rd exit for A721 New Edinburgh Road, continue towards Glasgow Road Uddingston (B7071) and follow above diversion to Raith roundabout and A725 northbound on-slip to return to Orbiston Junction, Bellshill.

These works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Council.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
