A725 Bellziehill Junction North Overbridge

26 June 2022

Eight Week Closure of A721 eastbound at Bellziehill Junction North Overbridge

Road users advised to expect delays due to essential maintenance on A725 overbridge for approx. 8 weeks

Road users in North Lanarkshire are advised to expect delays as the A725 Bellziehill Junction north overbridge (A721 eastbound) Bellshill, will be closed from 22:00hrs on Sunday 26 June 2022, for approximately eight weeks to allow for bridge repair works.

This eight week closure is required to allow waterproofing and re-surfacing works to be undertaken safely on the north bridge over the A725 carriageway. Similar works to the south bridge took place in summer 2021.

As a result, the north overbridge of Bellziehill roundabout which carries the A721 eastbound will be closed to traffic between the A725 northbound on-slip road and the A725 southbound off-slip at Bellziehill Junction.

The A725 northbound and southbound off-slips and on-slips at Bellziehill Junction will remain open to traffic, while pedestrian access will be maintained via the footpaths on both the north and south side of Bellziehill roundabout overbridges.

Signed diversion routes will be in place whilst these works are ongoing.

In order to facilitate this closure, the following traffic management will be required overnight for one night on Sunday 26 June 2022, between 22:00hrs and 06:00hrs

  • A725 northbound and southbound carriageways between Orbiston Junction and Diamond Interchange (James Street) will be reduced to a single lane
  • Closure of the A725 southbound off-slip at Bellziehill Junction, with a signed diversion route in place via the A725 southbound and Raith Junction

In order to minimise disruption as far as possible, Scottish Roads Partnership has scheduled these works during the school summer holidays. The closure will be in place 24/7 for the duration of the works and road users are being advised to allow extra time for your journey or use an alternative route if possible.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
